Get Low

We went to the Tempe Festival of the Arts last Saturday. We go to every one of them and take the kids. They love it, even if they do get hopelessly filthy!

Last December when we went, I noticed that they had opened up an American Apparel on Mill Avenue since we had moved. Of even more interest to me was the fact that the entire one side of the back wall was covered in a display of dog tee shirts, and y'all know how I feel about dog stuff! So I did the obvious thing... I scooped up Miss Gidget and made a beeline for that display.

Well, I didn't make it. The guy at the counter stopped me, and said that I couldn't bring "that dog" (can you imagine!) into the store. I was like, but you sell DOG CLOTHES! He said his boss would freak if she saw the dog in there, sorry. I asked how I was supposed to know what size she wore then. He says well, you can take the shirt outside to try it on her.

Yes, that's right, this GENIUS would rather me take unpaid for merchandise out of the store than to allow my 6.5 lb dog that I was carrying into the store. Right. I told him never mind, and I left.

So fast forward to this past Saturday. We are walking past this store, and I happen to notice a couple walk in. Now, normally they wouldn't even have been a blip on my radar, but the thing was, they each had a Yorkie under an arm!!!! I was like, What the Hell??? Oh no they didn't! So I hung out by the door to see if they would get kicked out like I did. Nope, didn't happen, not even when the chick put her dog down on the ground to walk around right in front of the register.

So now I was really annoyed. I went in (sans Miss Gidget) and went to the register. I told the guy at the counter that I wanted to try the dog tees on my dog, but last time I was there I was told that dogs weren't allowed in the store. He says, I don't know who told you that, of course they are allowed. How else would we sell the shirts?

Then it hit me... I knew who had told me that... HE HAD TOLD ME THAT!!! It was the SAME GUY!!! Can you believe the NERVE of him? Ugh. I held my tongue though, and just thanked him and went to fetch Gidget.

I ended up getting her a cute hot pink tee with yellow trim. Later that day, we passed the Cap Co. and I had an idea. I took the shirt in and asked if it could be embroidered. The lady said it was the smallest thing she had ever done! But here it is:

Isn't it cute? It's like, a little bit ghetto, a little bit princess, just like me, ha ha! I love it!
