Stupid Desert!

I know that I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I know that's in the freaking desert. This is not a newsflash. However, I'd like to argue that 110 degrees at 7:30 in the evening is a bit ridiculous, don't you think? I can't even open the blinds because it truly makes a difference in the temperature in the house. It's like living in a cave. I hate having closed blinds!!!

I'll say it again - Stupid desert!!!

I changed my photobar to reflect how I am feeling about the weather, haha. The people in Seattle all thought I was crazy when I was excited for an overcast day. They all like the SUN, can you imagine? I also made some changes to my sidebar, inspired by the one's on another blog. Some of them are clickable links. I think I like it.

I thought I'd post a photo of the cake I made yesterday.

It's a carrot cake with cream cheese icing and royal icing flowers. Most people would top a carrot cake with little frosting carrots, but I guess I'm just unconventional that way. It's only a five inch cake, since it's just for me and my husband. I had my last cake decorating class last night. I'm a bit sad, since I've been doing this pretty much the entire time I've been pregnant. I guess it's too hot to bake now anyway.

The other day I got a craving for biscuits and gravy. I know a lot of folks think that's just nasty, but it's one of my favorite things. I don't make it very often though, because my husband doesn't really like it that much. I was lamenting this fact the other night, and he says, well, I guess it's not THAT bad.

That sounded like "sure, sweetheart, go ahead and make some" to me, so guess what we're having for dinner tonight?

I too hate, hate having the blinds closed. I love the sunshine, but hot summer heat in the house is a drag too. You know what, summer is a drag!

I love carrot cake, but am guilty of picking off the little frosting carrots. Something about them, not right. I like your flowers...purrrrdy. Unconventional, but far more appealing.

Mmmmmm biscuits and gravy. We love them in my house, esp. my hubby.

That carrot cake looks yummy! I want to be able to decorate cakes, but I kind of suck at it. LOL. And I don't know if I have the patience it takes I guess. Is your husband a picky eater? Mine is and it drives me bonkers sometimes. I've gotten him to eat and like a lot of things he wouldn't before we got married though. I guess you could call that progress, but I've still got a ways to go with him!

It is unbearably hot here in Arkansas, so I can't even imagine what it's like in Arizona! I don't envy you that's for sure - and pregnant too - ugh! Sending waves of cool breezes your way. :)

Darn it, Emily beat me to it! I have something for you on my blog as well. You're one popular gal!

Carrot cake is THE best with a tall cold cold cold glass of milk. Yum!

Beautiful cake. I'm sad your class is over too. No more beautiful cakes to admire! I think your flower choice is perfect. The little carrots are just too predictable!
