Happy October!

The end of the crappy heat season is in sight! Today was a beautiful, overcast, gray, gray day, and it RAINED!!! YAY! Even better, it might rain again on Thursday, and I leave for vacation on Saturday... What a great beginning of the month!

To celebrate, I decided to go buy a mini pumpkin to decorate my desk at work. Upon further thought, I decided to paint my pumpkin, because what fun is a plain pumpkin, after all? I've never painted a pumpkin before, but since it's way too early to attempt any feats of carving (carvation?), I figured what the heck. Of course, me being me, I decided to try Hello Kitty:

There is one whisker that is too thick, but overall, I don't think I did too bad. I used gesso for the base and then just my scrapbook paints. Her bow I made with some ribbon and a glittery button, just to add interest. I'm looking forward to admiring her all month, and will be sad when it's time for her to go.

On to other things... my lunch. Yum yum. I'm so glad I took lunch today, because everything in the cafeteria was fried or just looked nasty today. Except the chocolate cake. That looked good, but I resisted.

Top tier: gyoza, sauce fishy, broccoli, edamame, carrot sakuras (cherry blossoms, I think), and half a hard boiled egg.

Bottom Tier: Steamed rice, furikake, and shrimp stirfried in seasoned oil and garlic.

Finally, and I know you wouldn't believe it without the photographic proof: I scrapbooked this weekend. Not only did I scrap, I did FIVE pages! That rocks! I totally got into a groove, doing one on Saturday and the other four on Sunday.

The first one I did on Saturday. I love this photo, and I've been admiring it sitting on my table for a few weeks now. The black flowers and vines are SEI iron-ons that I picked up at the CK Convention two weeks ago, and they took FOREVER, but the effect worked perfectly with the photo. I styled this, posed it, took the picture, and edited. In hindsight, I decided that it just might be art.

cardstock: Bazzill Basics. patterned paper: Making Memories. iron-ons: SEI. chipboard letters: Basic Grey. glitter glaze: Lil Davis. acrylic paint: Adirondack Dabbers. label sticker: Lil Davis. font: Adobe Garamond Pro Bold The circle for journaling was done in Microsoft Word, the photo was edited using Photoshop CS3.

This one was another page that happened with photos I've been looking at for a long time... two years to be exact. I HATE these photos. I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate them. These were taken when I was subbing, and for whatever reason it was decided that I needed a portrait also on picture day. Just another set of crappy pictures of me. Poop Sandwich.

patterned paper: Paper Loft. stickers: Creative Imaginations, 7 Gypsies, Miss Elizabeth. gaffer tape: 7 Gypsies. pen: Zig Millenium. other: notebook paper.

Next up - an old picture of Leila, in the pre-Gidget days at the park. I picked up this SEI paper at the convention also. It's so cute! It's like retro 50's Breakfast at Tiffany's but with dogs... if that makes sense.

cardstock: Bazzill Basics. patterned papers: SEI, Making Memories. stamps: Love, Elsie. stickers: 7 Gypsies, Rusty Pickle. brad: Daisy Hill. pens: Zig Millenium, Zig Embossing. embossing powder: Adirondack.

This one I kinda threw together... you can tell. I'm not 100% happy with it, but they can't all be winners, you know?

cardstock: Bazzill Basics. patterned paper: i forgot. Anyone know? stamps: Autumn Leaves. ink: Versamark. stickers: 7 gypsies, AE Beautiful Everyday kit. pen: Zig Millenium. other: staples.

Finally, one that I do really like (except my spelling error, grr) even though it's really not my usual style. I wrote the journaling yesterday, like it was then, which is different for me, but I wanted to record that mindset. So I was 4 1/2 years late. At least I did it, right?

cardstock: Bazzill Basics. patterned papers: Basic Grey, unknown. stamps: 7 Gypsies, Lil Davis, AE Beautiful Everyday kit, PSX Antique alphabet. ribbon: May Arts. ink: Ranger embossing, Ranger Distress Ink. embossing powders: Ranger Distress, Creative Beginnings. punches: Fiskars. glitter: Ice Stickles. other: staples.

That's it for this edition of my ramblings. I'm off to hang my fall wreath on the front door before I go to bed!

OH MY GOODNESS - such flippin' cuteness, in the form of a punkin. I feel a copycat session coming from the teen in the house - ADORABLE! And such yum=yum bento - have to try just filling an entire layer with rice and "sprinkles" - easy peasey and delish!!

happy Tuesday :)
