Ornaments!

I don't think I've ever done a post about our ornaments before. We don't have a whole lot of them, but I definitely have some favorites on the tree.

Of course, baby's first Christmas is right up there. It makes me smile every time I see it. Ken Griffey Jr is a new addition this year. I picked up this 1998 ornament at the antique mall this week for my husband. KGJ is is favorite baseball player of all time.

I got this sock monkey at Urban Outfitters way back when my husband and I were first dating.

This little angel was purchased on a road trip. Ex-BFF (haha oxymoron) and I drove to Oklahoma and decided to stop at all the weird and interesting tourist stops along the way. We saw the world's largest sock/foot, Cadillac Ranch, and the second largest cross in the Western Hemisphere, which is where I bought this.

This Little People firetruck was the ornament Bubba selected this year. Very fitting for my fire truck loving boy.

I bought the Moose at Crate and Barrel a few years ago, while I was working at the hotel. We had a joke about a moose knuckle, and so I think of those fun times when I see this. I know, I know, not very Christmas-y, but a good memory none the less.

Sorry this photo is so awful. I had to use my flash because it was on the tree in the foyer where all the lights burned out. I bought this juggling lion in a little boutique in NYC when my mother in law treated us to a trip there a few years back. I'll tell you what, I'll take a vacation in NYC to a vacation in Hawaii any day. It's so much more interesting!

I don't remember where I got this, but I know it's old because Leila has no prayer of fitting into that Coach dog collar these days. I'm guessing this may have been her first or second Christmas, so either 2003 or 2004.

This was the ornament Bubba selected last year. It's a Little People airplane, which my husband loved because he had one when he was a kid. The little hatch for the door/steps opens and closes just like on the actual toy.

You'll notice that almost all my ornaments, with the exception of the plastic balls, of course, are of the plastic Hallmark type. I don't really care for the old fashioned blown glass ones. They look pretty on other people's trees, but honestly, for what those things cost they're just too dang fragile! I don't want to spend that much money on a paper thin piece of glass only to have it shattered by my clumsy hands. I have a couple that are sturdier glass, or ceramic, and I'm okay with that because they won't break as easily. With just a few exceptions, mine are wood, metal, or plastic. They're so much fun to pull out and display each year!

I love it! Every year I buy a new ornament (or two) for our tree. I love the eclectic look of an un matching tree that tells a story as we and our families grow!
