I got bored.

It seems that about once a year I decide to go ahead and lop off all my hair. I did it last year in the middle of March, so I guess I'm early this year.

I may have gone straight from Supercuts (WHAT? I'm cheap, okay?) to Target and bought one of those Frost n' Glow kits to put streaks in my hair. Those caps with all the little holes are dead sexy, I'll have you know. My hair was simply too dark for it to work properly so I ended up with red instead of blonde after leaving it in for a freaking HOUR.

Here's what it looked like a few weeks ago:

And this past weekend:

Shoulder length and so dark brown it was almost black. It was super uneven had a TON of split ends, so I knew I was going to have to give up some length.

My theory on hair is that it's only hair... it grows back. I don't hate it, but I don't think I love it either. For one thing, it's about two to three inches shorter than I planned on having it cut. Also, I was picturing it with blonde streaks like I had a few years ago, not red ones. Still, I don't hate it. I think I'm going to have to invest in some clips for my hot rollers because I like the big curls in it this length. I did these with the flat iron, but that's way too damaging to do on a regular basis.

My head feels about five pounds lighter than before. :)

You look great! It's so liberating to change the length or color of your hair. :)

Love the new color. I too am cheap. I recently went to Ulta (yes I splurged) and when the stylist asked when my last haircut was...I felt super embarassed realizing it had been a year, and the uneven jagged layers were put there by me and a pair of scissors. I normally use a cheap bottle of hair color from Walmart, but I have done the cap thing and like you, was hoping for more golden results and got red. But I have to say your color does look good. A very 1950's glam look.
