I have a confession to make:

I've been really eating like crap lately. I go to work, come home, crash for a couple of hours, and then have no energy to make anything, so I send my husband out to get food. We've eaten out almost every day for the past month and a half!!! Oh, and forget packing lunches. My sorry behind sleeps in until 7:30 every morning, and I have to be at work at 8:00!!! That means Sara eats out almost EVERY DAY.

This is bad.

So, today I decided we need to work on this. Baby steps! I started out by making some onigiri to freeze:

These will be good for lunches. If I have a good stash of quick stuff in the freezer, it's not that big of a deal to make lunches in the morning. We went to the Asian market and got some barbecue pork buns, shumai, veggies, and little snacky things to add to lunches as well. It's not super healthy, but it's better than fast food every day.

One of the things I picked up at the market was packets of miso soup. I used to have miso soup with vegetables every day for breakfast, and then it sorta tapered off. It's pretty healthy, so I thought, why not? It's fast, full of veggies and lean protein, and tastes good!

The recipe I use is adapted from Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat. It has steamed white rice, broccoli, green beans, corn, a hardboiled egg, and the miso soup from the packet. It even looks healthy, I think.

Today I scrapped also. I cranked out three layouts, two of which I really like, and one that looked better in my head. They can't all be winners I suppose.

First, the not my favorite:

I put the photos together in photoshop, so no cropping! WOO! I find myself doing this more lately. I know that my picture is a perfect fit every time and I don't have to worry that I'm going to lose important info, because I can see exactly what it's going to look like cropped to that size. I can also put all my pictures on one sheet of photo paper to print out at once - therefore, no waste. All of the pictures I scrapped today were printed at once on one sheet of paper.

This is from Thanksgiving before last. I'm a little behind, and definitely NOT a chronological scrapper! My husband getting a lesson in how to carve a turkey from his grandfather. This picture makes me happy. These nice family type things aren't really common for me, as I'm sure you've gathered by now.

This layout's design was lifted from Jennifer McGuire's article in this month's Creating Keepsakes. I don't think her's was a page, but it was easily adapted to one. I was looking at the pictures from last new year's eve and I realized, man, we're getting OLD.

Now that I'm through the weekend, and it's been almost a week, I realize I'm feeling better about the whole thing. It was pointed out to me that I have a lot going for me, and she really doesn't. I'm in a loving, stable marriage, and she just got dumped by her boyfriend who cheated on her, treated her like trash, and may have been gay. I may not make as much money as her, but I get to leave my job when I go home and have a life. I'm going to get to be a mom soon! I'm a good cook, an excellent baker, a natural artist, and pretty damn smart. Hell, she even told me she was tired of me looking better than her all the time. So I can get that. It just never occured to me that someone might actually be jealous of ME.

Also, I'm happy that I'm strong enough to know that it's not worth being a doormat to the world so that I don't have to be alone. I'd rather be alone than have people around who aren't as there for me as I am for them. I'm not going to look the other way when people do me wrong because I don't want them to leave me. I'm not going to say "I won't put up with this! NO WAY" and then conveniently edit my standards and morals when it happens.

If I can survive giving up my MOTHER, she will be a piece of cake.

She put some crap about pulling a knife out of her back on her myspace status, and all I could think was, wow, I guess it was time someone gave it back to you! It's funny how the people who like to talk about taking the so called "high road" usually can't see that they aren't on it.

I love your LOs. I never thought about putting all of your pics together and then printing them together. Sweet!

I have never seen miso soup with that many veggies in it. At the sushi restaurant it's just a little tofu and green onions....mostly broth. we just drink it out of the bowl. i love it that way.
