What would Miss M like for Christmas? I've been racking my brain trying to thing of things, because, honestly, beyond the computer and my new eyeglass frames (which are actually a belated anniversary gift) I couldn't think of anything. I've been working on this list for DAYS of things that I would like, even if I don't necessarily NEED them. Here, in no particular order, is my list - in pictures!!!1. Roller skating lessons. Let's be honest here folks. Miss M can only stop if she choses to either a) crash into a wall or b) fall. Neither are much fun. 2. Pottery Barn Malta Lantern, in Medium. Actually, any lantern in a simple style like this would do. I think it would look awesome on the top of one of the bookcases in my living room.
3. Crate and Barrel Rectangular serving plates, in the small size. I don't really have any nice serving dishes. I just use regular plates. I love the smaller scale and the clean rectangular shape of these. To be perfectly honest, they'd be even better if they were black/kohl stoneware, but these are nice too.
4. A martini shaker. My best friend's boyfriend has introduced me to the joy that is an ice cold shot of Patron silver, and now I am spoiled. Warm tequila just won't cut it these days, and a classic 16 oz stainless steel shaker (with the built in strainer, of course) is the perfect way to get it cold fast.
5. Paper Source "CREATE" mug. I love love love the rustic charm of this heavy mug, and the cute typewriter font reminding me to create.
6. Kitchen Maid stand mixer in Empire Red. No wussy tilt back heads for me please. I want the professional one with the bowl lift, in a lovely bright red to brighten up my countertops.
7. Le Creuset Cast Iron round oven - 7 1/2 qt size. Yeah, that seems a little big for just me and the husband, but this is the type of item that will be around forever, and I'm looking to a future of family gatherings and soup. I bet posole would come out AWESOME in this bad boy. The redder the better!
8. All Clad Multi Pot. I've been wanting this bad boy for a few years, and never seem to get around to buying one. Now I think the price may have gone up, boooooo. Perfect to boil pasta in, compared to my smaller All Clad pot (which I guess is a good size, but STILL) and also the smaller, higher basket would work wonderfully for tamales NEXT Christmas. Another one of those "this will last me forever" items that is worth a splurge, I think.
9. Okay, the pic is cheesy, but if you go to the website, you can find the instructions to make one of these. This is handy, as you can't buy them in the states, but at the same time, not handy, as you need an industrial sewing machine to make one. I don't have one of those, nor do I know anyone who does. This would be handy for those hard landings, especially since I live in an upstairs apartment. This one could actually lead me to item 9b - pole dancing lessons. That would be fun!
10. Okay, for years I dreamed about the Canon 20D, and then they came out with the 30D so I dreamed about that. Now the 40D is out, and I saw it while out shopping. I said, self, you don't NEED a camera that big. Sure, it's snazzy and has all the bells and whistles, but they're sure to come out with a 50D in a year or so that will make this obsolete. Not to mention it's freaking HUGE! So, in the end, I've decided that the right dSLR for me is the Canon Rebel XTI. It's been voted a consumer best buy by Cnet.com among countless other publications, and it's actually more megapixels than the 40D. Take THAT rampant consumerism! 11. I saw this book a few months ago, and fell in love. So many great ideas! Even my husband liked the book. But, as you well know if you've been reading my blog for any length of time, I haven't really been so good about scrapping lately, so I didn't buy it. I felt like I didn't deserve it. Maybe someone else will?
12. Tiffany Padlock Pendant - I have loved this necklace for years. I actually bought myself a knockoff (I know, thats so bad!) in Chinatown last Christmas and wore that sucker until the finish came off and my neck turned a lovely greenish black shade a few months later. Best $10 I ever spent, but now I miss my padlock. 13. Making Memories Noteworthy Journaling notebook - I drove, in rush hour traffic no less, for half an hour across town to get to the one place that usually has new products when they are new, and no one there had heard of this. Actually, no one there knew who Cathy Zielske was, which is sad, for a scrapbook store. The employees at that joint aren't what they used to be. Anywho, I really really really want one of these.
