I sorta scrapped

I love the Sally Jean fairies and princesses. I think a lot of scrappers have seen work inspired by her work, but don't realize it because people fail to give credit. She does these vintage collage pieces, lots of slide mount charms and such.

My MIL mentioned to me that she needed a new luggage tag when she called the other day, so I decided to do one inspired by the Sally Jean charms. Since it was for a luggage tag, of COURSE she had to be a Travel Fairy, and since we are going to New York, she has a map of lower Manhattan. This way it's kind of a keepsake as well as something functional.

The background is made of several different patterned papers collaged together using Gel medium. I sanded them lightly, then "whitewashed" them using some pale pink paint and a baby wipe. I used a clear stamp to stamp the dots in blue, then outlined them in black pen. The wings and hat I just cut freehand from another piece of patterned paper, and trimmed in glitter glue. After I made the tag on paper, I laminated it in my Xyron and then adhered it to the backside of the luggage tag. I made a ribbon tassel just for a little extra added oomph. Whaddaya think?

Luggage Tag - Darice. Patterned papers - 7 gypsies, unknown. Fairy and map images - found online. Glitter glue - PSX Sparkles. Inks: Distress Ink. Circle stamp: Technique Tuesday. Walnut Ink crystals: Postmodern design. Paint: Making Memories. Pen: ZIG Millennium. Font: 2ps Evergreen. Ribbons: May Arts, Offray, American Crafts.
