FFA Friday - October 7

Weigh in day! I have to be honest with you - I really thought the number here would be higher, because I had another week of going over my calories almost every day because I'm so freaking hungry lately! It's crazy; I just want to eat constantly. UGH.

I got on the scale this morning though and it said I was down a half pound from last week. That keeps me hovering at 8 pounds lost in the past 8 weeks, and also means I only lost two freaking pounds this month. NOT COOL.

Luckily for my self esteem, yesterday was measurement day at boot camp, and that helped. I may have only lost two pounds, but apparently I was gaining some muscle because my measurements did go down.

I lost 3.75 inches all over this month. I also learned that I can't do math, and I did not lose 11.75 inches last month as my lack of addition skills led me to believe, but a still respectable 9.75. My loss this month wasn't as impressive as last month's, but like I said, I ate. A LOT. I'll take my almost four inch loss, thank you very much!

I'm starting to have an issue with my clothes. My pants are all loose around my waist, but still fit okay in the hips and thighs. This makes for me looking like a fool hiking up my jeans all day. How do you deal with this? I don't like belts - I find them to be uncomfortable to the point they're painful. If I was only standing they'd be fine, but when I sit down they dig into all that squashy flesh (mmm, pretty visual, amirite?) and it HURTS.

I'm too young for elastic waist pants!!!

I'm also having a problem with bras. They're all too big around now, which is leading to them gapping and riding up in the back. It's very uncomfortable! I hate shopping for bras - they never seem to fit right. I'll try them on and they'll seem okay in the store, but after wearing them for a couple of hours they'll not be comfortable anymore. When I find a style I like that fits okay I tend to buy a bunch in different colors and just stick with those. Then I get all mad when they discontinue that style eventually.

Yeah, I'm looking at YOU Victoria's Secret who only keeps bras for a year at a time. Grrr.

I'd like to conclude this entry by pointing out my biggest loss this month was in my hips - FFA, indeed!

Congrats! that's great news. I always have that problem with my pants/jeans because I have booty. I also hate belts and they don't always help anyway. The only thing beyond having them tailored is buying pants that are designated curvy. They are usually bigger in the hips than in the waist.

Sara, I am so happy for you! You are working hard, and it's paying off in the numbers.

About being hungry -- listen to your body. If it needs more food, it'll tell you. If it doesn't, it'll tell you that, too. The calorie counter is a good guide, but you have to trust yourself to know what you need. It sounds like you're doing that since you said you ate a lot. I just think it's great that you're doing this!

And about ill fitting clothes -- I totally get it. I am dealing with the same thing. I have found Macy's to be a good place for bra shopping. I've totally given up on Victoria's Secret. Macy's has been selection for big boobied girls, :) and they have pretty good sales, too, like buy two get one free and 50% off. Most of my pants and jeans are too big right now. I am relying pretty heavily on belts, which you said don't work for you, and a few "skinny" jeans/pants. Eventually I'm going to have to get some new stuff. Have you tried fabric belts? I have two that I love -- small circular buckles with material belt bands. Those might work for you. Otherwise, yoga type plans might be an option for now until you get to the point where you are ready to buy new jeans.

Details aside, congratulations!! I've been able to see the difference in your shape. Enjoy your new body!!

Sara --

I just typed this long-ass comment, but when I hit "post," I realized I wasn't logged in, and it didn't accept it. I hate that! Anyway, I'm back to comment again. :)

Congratulations on your new shape and loss of inches! That's very exciting. I hope you're enjoying it and taking pride in what you've accomplished. This is very motivating. I really like that you're blogging about it It just goes to show the work is worth it.

About being hungry -- It's good to hear you're eating more when you're hungry. Your body will tell you what it needs, and it's great that you're listening to it!

About bras -- I have, personally, given up on Victoria's Secret. I've found Macy's to have a better, cuter, more well-made selection of bras -- especially for big boobied girls. :) They also have good sales like buy two, get one free or 50% off. Just an fyi.

About pants -- I hear ya! I'm in the same situation. Almost all my jeans and pants are too big, but belts are what's keeping them up for me. Have you tried a fabric belt? I have two that have circular metal belt buckles with fabric belts, and I love them. They might be more comfortable than harder leather ones. TJMaxx usually carries a decent selection of them for a decent price. Otherwise, maybe yoga type pants would be the way to go until you settle on what size you'll need in jeans. I'm holding out on buying any new jeans because I'm still losing weight. I am into all the "skinny" jeans I had in storage. So, I'm pretty excited about that. The only problem is that I only had a few of those, and all my normal sizes are getting to be too large.

Details aside -- congratulations!!!
