Dropped!

The past few days I've been telling my husband that I feel like the baby is lower inside of me, and my stomach looks a bit farther from my boobs than it was before. Even the checckout lady at CVS yesterday commented on how low I was carrying. He said he couldn't tell, and that I would know better than he would.

Husband. BLAH.

So today, I go to the doctor, and indeed, this baby has dropped! She said she could feel his head when she checked my cervix, but I'm not dilated at all yet. The little booger kept hiding from her while she tried to listen to his heartbeat. It was the first time that I've gone and she's not been able to find it. Fortunately, the whole time I could feel him thumping and wiggling away in there, so I knew he was okay. She finally found him and he was holding steady between 145 and 150 bpm. Everything is still measuring okay and she said she's estimating he will be about six lbs or so. Not big, but not terribly small either.

I've noticed lately that when I go anywhere, people STARE at my belly. It's kinda funny, like they are scared that all of a sudden I'm gonna gasp and a baby is just gonna fall out of me or something! Kinda cracks me up.

I didn't sleep much at all last night. Again. I was so tired yesterday, and I wanted a nap so bad, but I resisted, hoping that I'd be tired come nighttime. You know, so I could actually go to bed at a decent hour and sleep? I went to bed at 9:30 and was wide awake and STARVING at two in the morning. Ugh. I ate three steamed barbecue pork buns and a piece of apple bread! I went back to bed at 5:30, but wasn't able to actually go to sleep until after six. I had to drag my butt out of bed this morning to make it to the doctor on time.

So, I'm thinking there's a nap in my immediate future, followed perhaps by a trip to Babies R Us to pick up a baby monitor - the last big thing on our list of baby stuff to buy.
