I went to the doctor today. On the way there, I noticed a preying mantis on my windshield. I read that they were good luck, and I didn't want him to fly off on the freeway and die, potentially killing my good luck, so I pulled over and shooed him off the windshield wipers. That's right, I was nice to a bug today. My husband will be shocked.

The appointment went well. I have to go every week now, and get my cervix checked each time. Fun! I'm still closed up tight, which I think is good since I'm convinced he's sideways lately. Besides, the carseat won't be installed until the 27th, so he can't come before then. I said so.

Turns out, my itchy stretch marks aren't just because my skin is stretched to capacity. Apparently, I'm allergic to the surgical tubing that makes up my pregnancy piercing. Lucky me. In addition to the red stretch marks I've developed a fine rash around my stomach area. That seemed to be the give away.

I asked how I could just be allergic to it all of a sudden, since I've had the thing since March. She said I've probably had a mild allergy to it all along, but now, since my immune system is pretty much taxed to it's limit, it just can't fight it anymore. Hence, infection. I'm to finish up my round of antibiotics, and start taking Benadryl, as well as using the topical Benadryl cream. I also took out the plastic piercing and replaced it with my original gold jewelry. It still just barely fits. I'll leave it in until the mess looks cleared up, then take it out for the last few weeks of baby baking.

The Benadryl is kicking my butt though. I took a nap an hour after taking the first one, and then passed out on the couch with my feet propped up on the coffee table late this afternoon after a second one.. This is VERY unusual for me. I'm not a couch sleeper! I'll tell you what though, I'm not as itchy this evening, and the redness has definitely gone down, so it's working.

I'm a sleepy mess.

Well at least you are not as itchy and you have a great new excuse to nap. Naps are one of the greatest thinks on earth.
