Finally!

I've never worked so long or so hard on a baked good.

Isn't it terribly pretty though? I don't know who's gonna eat all this, but I'm glad to be done! We're looking at fifteen hours of work here, the bulk of it being the roses from Sunday, of course. I baked the cakes, torted, filled them, and gave them crumb coats on Monday night, put the base coat of buttercream on them and painstakingly smoothed it out Tuesday night, covered them in fondant, stacked them, piped the borders, and inserted the roses tonight.

Can I just say HOLY CRAP?!!!??!??!

The cake is another new recipe, White Almond Sour Cream cake with a chocolate hazelnut filling and almond buttercream. It is SO good. The nice thing about cakes like this is that they need to be leveled, so there are always scraps for you to sample and be sure your cake tastes as good as it looks.

This thing weighs a TON, as the cakes are super dense, and of course, stacked and weighed down even further by candy roses. It's not perfect, but for my first tiered cake, I have to say, I'm pretty dang proud of myself here.

Let's just hope I can get this bad boy to work in one piece tomorrow, okay?
