I couldn't do it.
Seriously, the very first thought in my head when I woke up this morning (after the inevitable "what time IS it?") was "Okay, I need to talk Brad into getting me a scanner today". Isn't that terrible?
I was going to get the new version of the one I had (Visioneer One Touch) even though the price had almost doubled, but when I got to the store they didnt' have that one. They did, however, have this:
Isnt' it PURTY??? That's an Epson RX595 All-In-One Scanner/Printer/Copier right there.
Now, my husband always told me that I should not get an all-in-one because they usually skimped on the quality of the individual components to make them affordable, and it was better to have the seperate machines for the seperate jobs. He told me this when I was first in the market for a scanner, and I was pining over an all in one. I took what he said to heart, and even relayed that information to my friend when she informed me that she was thinking of getting an all-in-one model.
Things have changed a bit though, and I'll tell you why: this one is a kick butt photo printer. I didn't have a photo printer before, and now I can print my own 8" x 10" prints at home!!! The color and the quality are phenomenal. The nice Mac folks have all of their demo computers hooked up to the Internet (I guess so you'll play with them longer?) so we took advantage of that and quickly read some reviews online. The only bad thing that was said about this was that the ink was expensive, and the thing used a lot of it. I think, duh, if you want the best prints you're gonna have to spend some on the ink. It's all about the convenience for me, and if that convenience is paired with quality, well, it's a no brainer at that point.
Also, it was $50 cheaper than the plain scanner I went in to buy in the first place!
