I have a confession to make.

My little dog?

Yeah, she's been wearing diapers for about two weeks now.

I have never, ever, in my entire life had a dog that I could not housebreak, until now. You know that line about dogs not wanting to pee where they sleep? Yeah, that's a load of crap. I put her in a crate, and not only does she whine and how, she will pee on one side and squish her little six pound body into a corner on the other side. I tried litter box training her, giving her the small litter box and literally less than a square foot of space to lay in, and she peed on the floor and slept in the box. Same deal for the puppy pads.

The problem is that she spent the first three years of her life peeing willy nilly all over her house. That's the reason why the woman gave her to me! She was tired of the pee. I thought, no sweat, my other dog is housebroken like a champ. I can do this.

EEEHHHHH!!!! WRONG!!!

That little booger would be playing fetch with you and just squat in the middle of the game, with the ball in her mouth still, just like a puppy. She didn't care. Praise was ignored when she did go outside, treats refused in her anxiety to get on with her walk. She did catch on that she was not to be peeing in the house, instead, she became a stealth pee-er (is that a word, pee-er?). You can't correct what you can't catch! I've been having this battle for almost three years now.

Someone suggested on a Yorkie message board that I used to read to dress puppies in baby onesies, because the fabric down there kept them from wanting to go. That didn't work, but I figured it was because it was too baggy, which is where the idea for the diapers came in.

I really didn't expect her to start PEEING in them!

At first I was really irritated, because it was yet another attempt at housebreaking that failed, but then I realized: it was a win-win situation. She can pee where she wants, and I don't have pee-stained and smelly carpets anymore.

Yay!

So, if you were ever to come over to my home, be prepared to see the cutest little dog ever, with her hair in a ponytail sticking straight off the top of her head, wearing diapers and a baby onesie (helps hold diapers in place).
