State of The Blogger Address

I would love to have an exciting post full of wonderful things that I've been doing and making this week, but the truth of the matter is that I haven't really accomplished a whole lot this week. On Wednesday I went to bible study and bought little tabs to stick on my bible pages so I could find the book for which I was searching a bit easier. I also bought a dry highlighter - exciting, right?

Thursday I tried a new pork carnitas recipe that I found on Pinterest and it was awful. I will not be linking that bit of culinary fail here, sorry! I put half the pork in a glass dish, because that's what was used in the photos, and the other half in a metal half sheet pan because I only have one 9" x 13" glass pan. Well, I don't know what happened, but the pork in the glass dish burned to a crisp! Literally, it was dry and crisp and broke like so much burned bacon. I was so sad. The pork in the metal pan was okay, but it was bland and salty all at the same time. I cooked it for less time than the recipe stated, so I'm thinking maybe the author has no clue what an inch really looks like. Drives me nuts when people talk about one inch and they're holding their fingers three inches apart!

Gonna stick with my old carnitas recipe, thank you very much!

Today I went to visit with a new blog friend. It's always a little scary going to meet an Internet person for the first time, but I shouldn't have worried. This lady was every bit as lovely as she is on her blog. She fed me homemade lemon pie, and I don't even LIKE lemon pie. I ate this and LOVED it though. If she does blog about it like she said she would, I will be making it too. Flipping YUM people, and like I said, I don't like lemon pie!

Also, she lives in my dream house and has the cutest dog ever. We visited for three hours and the conversation never once ran dry. I definitely look forward to spending time with her again.

This evening I spent like I have spent all my recent Friday nights - with my knitting club. This is not your grandma's knitting club. We sit and we chat while we work on our projects. I say projects because "knitting" is a term we use loosely. Some of us knit, some crochet, some work on embroidery. Pretty much, if it's a small project you can haul with you to Paradise Bakery, you're in. We talk about funny things on Craigslist, share what we've scored at Goodwill, talk about our kids, and even have some pretty, um, risque conversations. I love getting to spend those three hours with these girls every week!

Tomorrow we have our first birthday party to attend to mark the start of Birthday Party Season. Our playgroup was aimed towards babies born mainly in the window of July - November 2008 so most of the birthday parties we attend fall in this part of the year. The birthday boy's mom is an event planner too, so I can't wait to see what she has done for this!

Not every week can be chock full of entertainment value I guess, but it sounds like you had some fun with friends and at least one adventure (new recipe!) this week. I wish I lived in a place where there were enough people for crafting clubs and baby play groups...sounds like fun!
