Jeans, jeans, they're good for your heart...
As every woman knows... shopping for jeans is HARD. You try on what feels like fifty million pairs, you get all gross and hot and sweaty and frustrated in those closets they call dressing rooms, and if you're lucky, one pair will look okay and all your work will not be in vain. It sucks that for an article of clothing that common, it would be so hard to find the perfect pair.
Well ladies, have I got news for you, if you didn't know already. You think shopping for regular jeans is hard? Try MATERNITY jeans!
First off, who makes these things, because seriously, they are ugg-lee! They look cheap too, like the ones my mom used to buy my brothers at the swap meet when we were kids. If you find some where the denim isn't hopelessly stiff, they've got stupid whiskering all down the front. I don't need white lines pointing to my crotch, thank you very much. The only person besides myself who needs to know where it is has already figured out how to access it, as proved by my need to buy maternity pants in the first place!
I did find a pair that were a nice, dark, even washed denim at Ann Taylor Loft, but apparently, they only offer pants to suit the Amazonian mother-to-be. We're talking they were almost a full FOOT too long. But Miss M, you might be saying, you know about these people called tailors, right? Yeah, as a life long member of the Vertically Challenged, I do, and I've used them. The problem is that on tall people, their legs aren't the only things that are long. ALL of them is usually long, including the area from their crotch to their waist. That's right, I had pants coming almost to my boobs. It was so sad.
Motherhood Maternity does offer pants in petite lengths, but that was also the home of the whiskered jeans and overall bad denim. *sigh* I did find some cute brown cargo-ish pants that can roll up and button into capris, so at least I'll have SOMETHING to wear in the coming months. I also found a cute top that was not black like everything else I've bought so far.
It's hot pink. Of course.
And I set a record for myself using the word "crotch" in one post. My husband hates that word. I'll have to get him to read this.

Humorous and oh so true post =)
What about swim suits! And we can't forget the lovely fitting room lighting.
Ugh! I hate the word "crotch", too. My mom used to drive me bonkers as a kid when we were shopping and she'd yell from outside the fitting room "how do they fit in the crotch????"!
As for the jeans...yeah...I hate trying them on. I try not to think about some day when I'll have to buy maternity ones!!
Yeah...I don't get the incredible length of pants lately in stores. I consider myself tall (5ft6) but really..."regular" length pants cover my feet and "long"...forget it! Why???
finding jeans sucks! i have never thought of going to a tailor because i have never really spent more than about $45 on a pair of jeans. i always tried to go with the trends since i lost my weight....which has proved to be a big mistake and filled my closet with a bunch of ill-fitting clothes. now, 75+ episodes of "what not to wear" i think i know what to do and when i start working i am going shopping!! so, i might need to find myself one of those things called a tailor. lol
Check out the Old Navy at Stapley and Baseline, they have a maternity section. I was able to find some cute things there when I was preggo. Also check places like Ross, they have maternity too. To vote in my contest you have to be a member of justmommies.com, have you joined yet?
Ok, so unlike you I was(shhhh, still am) loving maternity jeans. My fav is a brand from ross. I can't think of the name at the moment but one pair of jeans I still get compliments on...haha. Granted one of the reasons I love them so much was that for the first time ever, they were long enough! LOL Oh and ross has really cute shirts too. ;)
