Bitches, Elsie Flannigan, and Buddha

Last night, my boss called me to let me know that the drawer at work was stuck shut. She said that if I couldn't get it open, to go ahead and call a locksmith. Okay.

Then, in an oh-so-conversational tone, she asks, so, how was everything yesterday? I say okay. She says really? Just okay? I said yeah, well, it was a little slow, but mostly it was just okay.

She says to me, I know you aren't telling me the truth.

Huh? First, I am a harsh, mean, not-a-people person, and now I am a liar? I asked her what she was talking about. She said that a customer called her and told her that there had been a big "to-do" in the store that day, complete with shouting and tears. I said really? I don't remember that. Funny, really, since I was supposed to be involved!

I said I came in, checked the days sales so far, and asked the other girl working if it was correct, because it said $0 and it was 1 pm. She said it was. We chatted about Sunday's meeting, her friend who is trying to teach her family French came in, they walked around and he helped her to translate some of the patterned papers we sell. She asked me if I spoke French and I told her I took it in high school 13 years ago, so very little. She quizzed me on some stuff and got her friend to verify my answers and pronounciations, and we were all cracking up laughing. Then she was off work so they went to get lunch.

That was it. No shouting, no "to-do", no tears. I told my boss, see, this is exactly what I am talking about. People call you and tell you crap that is blatantly untrue, and you blindly believe them because the customer is always right. She said no, that she didn't just automatically believe them, that's why she was checking with me to be sure that everything was alright.

I'm sorry, what part of "I know you're not telling me the truth" when I say that everything was okay demonstrates that she didn't believe what she was told?

HONESTLY. What kind of sad little person does crap like this? Seriously, it's passed into the realm of being absolutely ridiculous already. Why would you just call someone's boss and tell a lie like that? How does one deal with this?

I know my blog has been abysmally dreadful lately, what with all the down-ness and woe-is-me crap, and I apologize. On a positive note, 52 Scrapbooking Challenges by Elsie Flannigan came in today, and I can't wait to read it. I am working on next week's Happy Hour layouts first though, I want to get them all done. I'll post them later. Oh, and we got the new car, and it's FABULOUS! A/C, brakes that make you stop, cup holders, headlights with actual covers instead of packing tape, and not a bit of ruched burgundy velveteen marring the lovely interior. Loves it!

My friend thinks I must have done something really bad in a past life to have the rotten luck that I have now. Maybe I beat up a child Buddha and stole his milk money, maybe I ran over Gandhi's cat. Who knows. Someone light a candle for me, will ya? Thanks!

Ok seriously, could this person be the one behind all this "customers say you are a horrible person" crap. I think it's time you sit down with your boss and lay it out on the table. I'm not telling you what to do but she obviously has some issues with you that aren't justified. And someone seems to have it out for ya...LOL.

Part of your post just cracked me up, but I can't tell you which part. You'll know soon enough...hehehe.

Did you get the layout I emailed ya?

That is wierd. I'm sorry its happening. Its so hard and demotivating when it feels like your boss doesn't have trust and confidence in you. Take care!!
