Nerf

For years, I've wanted a Nerf gun. It was one of those things that sounded like a lot of fun, but also seemed to be a frivolous expense. Therefore, I never bought one. I just admired them at the store because I guess I'm a 12 year old boy sometimes.

Well, last week when we were visiting my mom, what should she produce but TWO brand new Nerf guns.

I swear the most random stuff comes out of her home! They seemed to work but lacked darts. Darts are pretty cheap though, so I scooped up those bad boys and tossed them in my bag. Confession - originally I only wanted to take one so that I could have an unfair advantage over my husband, because I'm terrible like that. She said I had to take them both if I wanted them)

(I know some people think guns are bad and you shouldn't have toy guns in the house, but that's not something I want to debate here. The point is that these are fun, remind me of my childhood, and serve as a welcome distraction here and there. )

Apparently I'm not the only one because there were not one, but two episodes of shows we watch where the characters had Nerf gun wars this week. In one show, the guy even had the same gun I'm holding in the photo above.

Yeah, I'm cool. I also need to get some of those darts with the suction cups on the end - you know, step up my Nerf game, y'all!

The boy sees the webcam and wants to have a photo taken too. You have to oblige that kind of cute.

Cool!! Meh, it's not so much all guns that bother me; it's the ones that look like real guns and have children say things like, "I'm going to kill you." I heard that out of the mouths of two three-year-olds at the playground a couple months ago and was mortified.
