New Old Thing

I went to visit my mother on Saturday. You know this means I dragged some old thing home with me! My husband calls it Nana's Secondhand Store. The woman finds some cool stuff among all the junk, I have to say! This week?

Holy crap, right? It's BEAUTIFUL. All of the paint and markings are intact.

Check out the plate on the side. LOVE.

It even has the wooden cover!

The cord isn't the original one, and the case has a few slight cracks on the side and a few spots, both of which could have come from some sort of minor water damage. The base is a little bit scratched up and the key to lock the cover in place is missing, but overall I'd say it was in really good condition! My mom swears that it works too, although I don't think I'll be trying it out. This is more for aesthetic value! I'm trying to decide if I want to leave the cover on, for dust protection, or leave it uncovered and hang a print or something behind it. Decisions, decisions!

This is so strange because while I was in NY my mother gave me the exact same Singer machine! That's insane! Unfortunately, I have no way of getting it home other than shipping it, and that thing's pretty heavy. Le sigh.

All I did was wipe it down with a soft cloth that I dampened a bit with water. I don't know if my mom did anything to clean it up before she gave it to me.
