#1000, Baby!
Ok, if given the option (jobs, money, resources fall into place) where would you want to move? Or, nope, you're staying put forever?
If I could move anywhere, it would be to the Seattle area. Maybe not Seattle proper, but definitely one of the nearby suburbs. I hate that we are so far away from any family here. I would love for Bubba to grow up with his grandparents nearby. The reality of the matter though is that we will probably never move, because my husband is 100% certain he will never get a job besides the one he has now, which is silly IMO. But, since he's the one with the paying job, he gets to make that call, not me. Boo.
Hmmm... maybe I´m a bit too early with this, but... Will you send Bubba to school or will you be doing homeschooling?
Just read about some Germans who "fled" to America cause they wanted to teach their kids themselves - isn´t allowed over here.
I'm considering homeschooling Bubba right now, but just until the second grade or so. I firmly believe in the value of play as an important method for children to learn, but the reality of today's public school system is that all of that is being done away with in favor of testing. The problem with that, in my opinion, is that kids who can't read or write well have to be tested one-on-one with the teacher. If one teacher has 27 kids in a classroom and is spending all day testing kids one on one, when is she ever going to be able to teach?
I'm not saying testing should never be done, but after having worked in public schools for the better part of a decade, I've seen it get to be a little over the top. Add to that reduced recesses, the loss of "free choice" time, removal of "special" classes such as music and art... well, I'm not loving it. Sure, I could send the boy to a special private school such as a Montessori school (I love me some Montessori!) but we can't afford that.
I don't think that everyone should home school. In fact, it scares me that some people do it because they are dumb bunnies and are obviously winging it. (not all of them though, so no hate mail please!) However, I'm thinking that I, having majored in education in college, and having worked in early childhood classrooms for so long, am at least qualified to teach my own child until he's done with the second grade. After that, he will be able to read and write and the testing shouldn't eat up as much of the day. Then I would feel better about him going to school.
If there's anything I'd like to hear more about ... it's how-to's. I always enjoy those!
I have one coming up on how to make embossed monogrammed note cards!
Now, on to the giveaway! I decided I wanted to give away something that was very ME, so I asked myself, what do people think about when they think of me? I came up with Cupcakes, Glitter, Craftiness, Martha Stewart, and the color Pink. So here's what I have:
An "I'm Bitchin' in the Kitchen" flour sack dishtowel, embroidered by yours truly. The one with red thread in the photo is my own. It had just come out of the dryer which is why the eyes look sorta puckery, but they're really round, I SWEAR. I will be doing yours in whatever color you like. I am in love with these dishtowels because they just work so well. I get bummed when there are no more clean ones left and I have to go back to my old ones.

This is not a question, but info about one of the questions. In AZ, there are a few Montessori charter schools. That means that you can send your child to a Montessori school with Montessori curriculum and not have to pay tuition. We looked into several of them for Kelsey and she ended up at Villa Montessori for pre-k. If I would have stayed at the same office, I would have kept her there longer. There is a fabulous Montessori here in Ahwatukee but I would have to check to see if they are a charter school or a private school.
my absolute favorite cupcake flavor is funfetti with sprinkles on top! :)

Okay, that's a big deal ... a 1000th post! Congratulations. :)
Seattle ... I would move there in a minute. Mind you, I've never been there, but I feel like I have. David has and has talked about. I have friends there, too. I've also seen and heard a great deal about it. I love how environmentally aware the culture is there. They recycle everything and something like eight percent of working adults in Seattle ride their bus to work! It's laid out in such a way that they actually tried to discourage suburb sprawl so that people could walk and use public transportation. I just think it's a dream of a way to live. In fact, there was am interesting story on NPR about Seattle recently. I'll see if I can find the link for you.
Anyway ...
Yay! I'm excited for the giveaway. That's awesome.
And that's so awesome that you're doing a giveaway, especially considering that you're doing this on your own. Again, right? This is your second one in a short while.
So, my favorite flavor of cupcake ... that's hard because I really don't discriminate. If I had to choose just one, I might say vanilla bean or hazelnut with a little chocolate center. Or lemon. Lemon is good. Sooo good. I'm a cheesecake frosting girl for the topping.
I hope you get a lot of entries!!
My fave is chocolate and now I totally want one! What an awesome giveaway, congrats on the 1000th post!

I didn't post a question earlier because I just couldn't think of anything good! LOL.
Congrats on your 1000th post though, that's huge! :)
My favorite cupcakes are good old chocolate with buttercream frosting. Can't beat a classic.
And I'm already a follower of your blog (does that count?), but I'm not tweeting anymore (I got bored).
Fave cupcake is chocolate with buttercream frosting!
Congrats on your 1000th post - what an accompishment!
I mean that, I would love to have a blog. Won't start one because sadly I couldn't even find the time (motivation really) to even Twitter on a regular basic. Quite sad & pathetic!
Plus, I'm not very computer savvy. Still figuring out my Iphone. I've had a year now!
My favorite cupcake lately has been homemade (aka box made) chocolate w/ 2 frostings - chocolate fudge and Coconut Pecan.
Sounds good, might be making them after I send this.
I've been following your blog for a month or so. We seem to have the same hobbie interests and lifestyle - both in our early 30's, married, & have 1 adorable little boy we get to love.
I'm actually from Seattle - born and raised. It is a wonderful place to live. We even get to see the sun now, due to global warming. It's kinda crazy, I got to start in my yard in Febuary! Loving it!
I might as well Twit also. For my audience of 2!

P.S. I has also been debating the whole private montessori school vs. public school thing too. Hard one!
Oh...cupcakes are KILLING me lately. I can't eat dairy anymore. Which means...the frosting options? Pretty meager. Just made some red velvet ones w/ marshmallow frosting...they were ok. Wishing for some good, old fashioned chocolate w/ buttercream, though. And congrats!
Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!
Ya for givaways.
My fav. cupcake is red velvet. And congrats on your 1000th post!
Yay for giveaways! I am a freak of nature and don't like chocolate, so I will go with anything that resembles carrot cake as top cupcake.
Coconut cupcakes ... yum!!
And I tweeted: http://twitter.com/jenwaters/status/10757527416
Yay for DST ... I just realized I would've missed the deadline otherwise. What can I say, I'm a procrastinator!
And I'm a follower. : )
Aaaaand - that was the last official entry! Contest is now closed. :)
