Kelly - Four Months
I also can't believe how fair this child is.
I was two days late taking her benchmark photos this month. That's what I get for patting myself on the back last month.
I did manage to get one with a BFB on her head though. So stinkin' cute.
It was hard to get good photos this month because she's more active now, and also she decided that day that having her tongue poking out at all times was just a righteous way to roll. As a result, the drool situation escalated and she just looked silly. Ah well.
She had her four month well check last week. She weighed in at 13 pounds, seven ounces and measured 24 1/2 inches long. This places her firmly in the 50% percentile for all of her stats, which you would think was good. Unfortunately, because she's only 3lbs over her birth weight and still not a fan of eating we're getting referred to a GI specialist. Our pediatrician is stumped, because otherwise she's perfectly healthy. She's hitting all her milestones, she's happy, she's not spitting up or having diaper issues. Girlfriend just doesn't like to take a bottle.
We've tried changing bottles, we've tried putting formula in the breastmilk to make it more caloric (she HATES that), we've done the fat skimming thing, we walk her, we bounce her, we lay her flat on the couch and hold the bottle above her like she's a gerbil or something... it's hard. Some things help some of the time but nothing is a sure fire winner so we just cycle through all of our tricks at every feeding.
Since she's not taking her bottles we were told absolutely NO solids of any sort until six months. There's part of me that hopes she's one of those babies I've heard of who didn't care for bottles but went to town when introduced to real food, but I know I shouldn't hold my breath.
It's just still so frustrating to be worried about my 13 lb four month old who has been wearing 6m clothes for several weeks now. ARRRGH.
