August 2010 Twelve of Twelve

Last month, I totally spaced on doing the 12 of Twelve because well, last month sucked. Why not have one more thing go wrong, am I right? But this month, ah, THIS month, I remembered, because this month is August and this month is therefore better. With the exception of the ridiculous heat and resulting high electric bill that will make us cry when it arrives.

I went to bed at 11:40 last night because I was just EXHAUSTED. Generally, I try to avoid "early" bedtimes like that because they usually result in finding myself wide awake at three a.m. Today was no exception. I did, however, get to sleep until 4:40 which means I got FIVE FULL HOURS of sleep! Since I've been getting blocks of two or three here and there, this was very exciting.

I took advantage of that awake time and posted on my blog. Usually blog posts happen in the wee hours of the morning, but since I was asleep, I hadn't done it yet.

I decided to go ahead and hang my Fall wreath on the front door. The window by my desk looks out onto this area, and I thought maybe I could pretend it was October instead of it being August. Summer got the last laugh though, because it melted the glue enough that pumpkins started to fall off. Boo.

I also took some sandpaper and lightly distressed the little plant stand by the door. It was a dark (almost black) brown when I bought it, but I decided to spray paint it turquoise. You know how I've been loving my turquoise lately! Well, then it looked really flat and spray painted, for lack of a better term. I very lightly sanded where the paint would have worn away eventually, and it brought out a lot of the design and gave it more texture. Definitely an improvement.

The boy decided he needed to get up early as well. 8:45 is not a common time for him to see!

Later in the morning, he was walking around with the Swiffer. It was too tall for him to maneuver comfortably, so I popped out the two middle sections and just attached the handle to the cloth holder. Now it's the perfect size! He sat there and Swiffered the same spot for a while. Weird baby.

I worked on more baby book pages. I got two done, and photos printed for a few more.

Someone was supposed to come by at 4:00 to bring me something, so I decided I should probably comb my hair. I figured out how to curl it with the flat iron I won on Miss Anne's giveaway a few months ago!

We had a late lunch. I made tortillas last night so we had egg burritos. Well, I should say I had egg burritos because some baby only wanted to eat the tortilla.

My husband worked from home.

Bubba's alternate lunch, because I couldn't just let him have a tortilla!

I was trying to take a photo of the forkful of pasta and he swooped in from the side to take a bite right as the self timer went off. Obviously, the kid likes macaroni and cheese way better than eggs.

After dinner we took a quick run to Target to pick up a few things that we needed. My son gnawed his fingernails almost the entire time.

That's all until next month!

I love that he's a nail biter. It's so adorably neurotic. ;) And much better than the binky, in my opinion -- that's the battle we're fighting over at my house. Where'd you get that awesome shopping cart cover? It seems to fit in there perfectly. As always, love the pictures. I wish I could get into the 12 of 12. But I forget every time.
