Behind!

Just a few photos to get everyone caught up on what's happening in the Casa de M!

Noticed: If you happen to run out of time/patience to give your dog regular haircuts, so she ends up going over six months without one, she will actually start looking like a Yorkie again. Who knew?

I made cupcakes this weekend. I was told to make them "simple and not fancy." These are vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The good stuff too, not the kind made with Crisco. I think my oven is off lately because these came out a bit on the dry side and they don't usually. My oven thermometer sucks though (impossible to read), so I'm going to need to see about getting a better one.

I made them for brunch at this nice lady's house. We don't usually get to do anything for Easter, since we don't have family around here and don't go to church, so it was fun to be able to get out and be sociable. She puts on a good spread! I'm thankful that she invited us, and Bubba had a great time. He even got his first foot rub from a professional. He was living large, I tell ya!

Yesterday we went to our mom group/meetup. I am so glad that I didn't skip this one! Bubba was cranky and fussy and crying and just being a total pill. He usually reserves that behavior for his parents in the privacy of our own home! For the most part, when we're out he's very quiet and serious and just observes everything, much like his dad does actually. I couldn't figure out what the problem was when one of the other moms asked me if he was teething.

I had noticed and mentioned to my husband the night before that I could feel two bumps on his bottom gums that weren't there before. Since he started the drooling at two months, we check his gums periodically, which is how I knew they felt different. She told me to rub them, so I did, and he stopped fussing. BINGO!

Unfortunately, that only lasted a few minutes before he started to get cranky again. They told me to give him a half dose of Tylenol (luckily I carry it in my diaper bag) and one of the other moms lent me some liquid baby Orajel. I just put a drop on my finger, rubbed it on the front of his gums, and presto! He not only stopped fussing, he fell asleep!

So, it looks like Bubba is officially teething now. I went out and bought my own liquid Orajel. Hopefully it's not too rough around here the next couple of months.
When I was at Walgreens buying the Orajel, I came across this - a baby crayon! The middle is plastic and the nubs are each a different color of crayon. It was only $1.99 so I picked it up for him.

I also picked up a set of cluster bells for him while we were out yesterday. One of the other moms had a ring with bells on it that all the babies loved. We asked her where she got them, and she told us that she sweet talked someone at The Little Gym into selling her some, but they generally didn't sell them. She pointed out that all the ones she had seen had fabric handles that seemed like they would be hard to wash, and she wanted ones with solid plastic handles that could be sanitized.

Well, since I don't go to the Little Gym, and I'm not exactly ready to try to talk someone into selling me their equipment, I thought for a bit and remembered that we have a Lakeshore Learning Store right next to Babies R Us. Since I needed some gDiaper refills, it was no big deal to stop in and see what they had.

Here's a better picture of what we got that I found online. These are designed for classroom use which means that they are STURDY. I paid $3.75 for them (which makes them cheaper than a lot of baby toys) and they should last a really long time. Bubba loves them - I think because they are noisy. He played with them in the car all the way home. My husband said it sounded like Christmas!

The best part is that they are the hard plastic that can be cleaned and sanitized. Kick butt.

After Lakeshore, we ran to Target for a few things. I saw this car out in the parking lot that had the most awesome bumper sticker. I'm thinking, I may need one of those!

Then there was this morning's discovery. My son likes to watch himself in the webcam. Vain little booger! At least, I think he's watching himself. Maybe he's watching the blue light for the camera. Either way, it was kind of amusing to me.

I'm gonna go eat a cupcake now. :)

Your cupcakes are cute.
Thanks for the tip on the bells. Obviously, I don't have babies of my own to buy for, but I'm always looking for different and good ideas for gifts for all my friends that keep on getting pregnant. :)
