Driving Miss M

Today I drove for the first time since Bubba was born.

It was so weird to be behind the wheel again. Heck, it was weird to be in the front seat, as I've been riding in the back with the baby because I wanted to be there to comfort him if he got upset and to push his head back into place when he flopped forward a bit. Now he's bigger, and his neck muscles are stronger. He can hold his head up and it fits in the little head holder thingy better. He can also keep himself better entertained for longer periods of time.

Since it was my first time driving, I guess it's pretty obvious that it was my first outing with just me and the baby. I was nervous. What if I fell going down the stairs while carrying that stupidly heavy carseat? What if I couldn't figure out how to snap the carrier into the base? What if he cried the whole trip? What if I got into an accident?

Yup. Worrier here.

It wasn't a big trip - just something small to start out. I bought a pattern to make myself an apron earlier this year (it may even have been last year, actually) and I decided to go look for fabric. We went to this cute little quilting shop about a mile and a half from home. I love going there because the ladies are super helpful, especially with stuff I have a hard time figuring out. (That means MATH) They have little cheat sheets with fractions and they know just how to figure out how much fabric you need to bind a blanket.

I ended up buying this:

I think it's super cute, and will be way fun to use on an apron. I told myself I couldn't start it though until I finished Bubba's Seahawk blanket, so I sat and worked on that a bit tonight. It's such a slow process to finish that binding by hand though. I have less than one of the short sides left, so I'm close!
We still haven't gotten the tree up yet. Maybe tomorrow.
