Pottery Barn Inspired Easter Egg Garland

As I mentioned in my last post, I became instantly smitten with all of the fun spring stuff they had out. I especially loved the hanging alphabet eggs. I just didn't love the $19 price tag!

I did, however, like the price tag on these from Hobby Lobby. They were on sale for a dollar!

The PB eggs had small eye hooks on top of them through which string was pulled and tied to make a loop. I wasn't about to start trying to drill holes in plastic eggs, so I made a beeline to my ribbon drawers. I pulled out all of my bright pastel ribbons, both in solids and polka dots. I even found a pink one with stripes!

For each egg, cut off a 12 inch piece of ribbon and French cut one end.

Then cut a 4-5 inch piece of ribbon.

Tie it in a loose knot and French trim the ends.

Take the longer ribbon and press the French cut end into a dab of hot glue at the narrow end of the ovoid.

Now, hold it back over itself, put a dab of hot glue in front right where the ribbon touches the egg, and glue the center of your loose bow to it. Hold it a few seconds until it's dry.

Lay out the eggs in the order you would like to see the colors once they are done.

Next, bust into that drawer where you've been stashing rubons for almost a decade. Ignore all those $9.99 price tags because you're pretty sure you didn't pay full price for those. Find a larger font that you like. I picked three colors of the same font. Each egg got a letter in either pink or green, then I layered a black letter over all of them to help them be more of a unit.

You can also use vinyl letters if you have a Silhouette or Cricut machine instead of using rub ons. Just be sure that whatever you use, have the letter end right before it gets to the egg's opening. It would be a shame is one got opened and ruined all of your work!

I just scotch taped the ribbons to the curtain rod at various heights. At the PB in the store display, they had a long branch hanging from the ceiling and the lettered eggs were suspended from the branch over the dinner table. If the shiny plastic is too much for you, spray paint them a matte white first
