Happy St. Nicholas Day!

We finally decorated our Christmas tree today.

It's not that we're slackers. It's, um, that we were just waiting for St. Nicholas Day. Yeah. That's it. Either way, it's done. I have to say, as much as I love the uniformity and beauty of a "themed" tree, there's something about my random, mismatched, colorful tree that makes me really happy. We hung up all of the ornaments I've collected since I've been out on my own, plus the new one we bought yesterday for Bubba's first Christmas. We also picked up a new set of balls, because the old ones were glass and we broke most of them anyway over the years. The new ones are shatterproof, came in four different colors, and most importantly, were covered in GLITTER.

Yeah. Happy camper.

We also hung the stockings by the chimney. Not really with care, more like just slapped up there on the stocking hangers. I wanted to get new ones, but I didn't see anything that caught my eye and I've not the energy to make my own this year, so last years with a close copy for the baby it is. They'll work.

I'm feeling slightly lazy about decorating this year. What's been done will be the extent of it all. No garlands. No knick knacks. No lights. Just us, the tree, and the stockings. Oh, and Bubba.

We bought him the cutest little Santa hat. I'll take pictures later this week. We got to hang out with Miss Cicely (who is one seriously funny woman - check out her blog if you haven't already) at the Arizona Grand Resort today. She took our family Christmas portraits. We all (including Bubba) wore blue jeans, a white shirt, and black shoes. Well, Bubba wore black sneaker socks. He also wore the Santa hat. You could just DIE from the cuteness. I can't wait to get the pictures!

We went to Red Robin for dinner, then Whole Foods and Target afterwards. The only thing that makes people smile more than a sleeping newborn in his stroller is a sleeping newborn wearing a Santa hat. So sweet.

Man I like that kid!

Sarah: I am working with the pics. There are a couple of things that I want to do. I will be sure to let you when they are available.

So far,a dear friend as well as my students LOVE the photo of Brad staring directly at the baby (with Sawyer cradled in his arms). Another hit - the one with Sawyer completely knocked out across Brad's sholder.

Pretty tree! There is nothing like white Christmas lights.

Your paragraph about hanging the stockings made me laugh. :)
