Cake!

Okay, don't laugh, but this is supposed to be a birthday cake.

We had a birthday dinner on Saturday for my husband as well as some friends who all have birthdays within days of each other. We went to one person's house, and had dinner, and it was requested that I bring the cake. No one could decide what flavor it should be (I had a suggestion for marble, lol!) so I went ahead and suggested cherry chocolate chip. Everyone said that sounded good, so that's what I made.

The problem I was having was decorating the dang thing. It was a cake for three people - two guys and a girl. The guys were both turning thirty five, the girl was turning twenty seven. My husband suggested putting their team logos on there since they are all really into football, but seeing as how all three of their teams had navy blue as one of their colors, I passed. I didn't need anyone blaming a severely blue dyed mouth on me!

Finally, as it got nearer to the time to make the cake (six hours before the party, way to procrastinate huh?) I just said screw it and decided to go with a plain white cake topped with some of those blue roses I had leftover from my first tiered cake. Then I figured, eh, why not make this one tiered too, so it looks a little bit more impressive?

So there you go. The birthday cake that looks like a wedding cake. I guess at least I can add it to my portfolio, huh?

A birthday cake that looks like a wedding cake. Cute.
This is awesome. If someone made me a group birthday cake like this, I'd kiss them on the mouth. :) You haven't posted a cake in awhile. This one is incredible. So talented you are -- making blankets and cakes. I hope everyone enjoyed!
