My mother didn't have the best father in the world and I guess she's felt like she did the right thing in protecting us by not telling us (don't get me started on how this has screwed up our relationship over the years). I cannot tell you how many Father's Days I wished would not come, all the things we made for dads in school that I had to give to uncles I hardly know and convince myself that it was almost the same. I want to say that if anyone knows what you're going through, it's me. Although somehow, I've managed to stay very close to my mother, in spite of it. Maybe I let things go too easily. Or maybe it's still bottled up, somewhere. I'm going with the latter, on this one. I, too, enjoy seeing my kid have what I never did. And I hope that one day, all the good Father's Days will erase the empty ones. <3Maggihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15534414385595822536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12812215.post-54385040304986784132010-06-22T14:35:00.203-07:002010-06-22T14:35:00.203-07:00That's quite a story and probably therapeutic ...That's quite a story and probably therapeutic to share it. It's hard to go through life with one parent who seems half there (I can very much identify with that) and another one who is missing entirely. It's easy, I'm sure, to feel gipped. And I'm sorry you've had to live with the pain that's brought your way. I hope you're able to find peace with it ... something that is a journey, one it sounds like you're making. And like the girls said, here's to not repeating such a cycle!Samara Linkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15289273550527944603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12812215.post-57088110571931367442010-06-22T12:49:53.479-07:002010-06-22T12:49:53.479-07:00OMG, I was going to say exactly what Lindsay said....OMG, I was going to say exactly what Lindsay said. ha ha! Glad you found a good man despite your holes. I thank God all the time I didn't marry a guy just like my dad and choose to<br />celebrate that on Fathers day. Our kids will have better than us and I think that's kinda the goal of being a parent.Lindsay Teague Moreno | 5ive Photohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13875820550954674061noreply@blogger.com
