Shopping on the West Si-IDE!

Ah, shopping.

What is it that makes shopping, especially shopping for scrapbook supplies that I don't really need (shh, don't tell my husband I said that) so dang satisfying?

I picked up some stuff to work on for a client that I am really excited about doing. I justified a trip (with my sweet hubby's debit card, it's half mine, right?) to the scrapbook store because of it. Hey, I needed Fall papers!!!

I called a friend (shopping is BEST in pairs, I think) and off we went. First stop: The new Recollections in Chandler. They have beautiful FABULOUS ribbon! They are the only Recollections in town with this ribbon display, and they had a few scrumptious morsels that did not currently exist in my collection. The girl who was cutting it said it was the biggest order she had cut to date. I told her that she had previously been dealing with ribbon amateurs, BWA HA HA HA!

Next stop: We drove all the way out to flippin' GOODYEAR, halfway to Los Angeles practically, to hit Scrap Therapy. I have not been out to Litchfield Park/ Goodyear since I was 12 years old and my mom's boyfriend at the time had this grand plan to move us all into a trailer in the middle of a big dirt lot in the middle of nowhere. We even went and checkout the trailer. It had been abandoned by the previous tenant and there were several LARGE wasps nests inside. Thankfully, that plan fell through. Anyway, when I think Litchfield Road, I think large expanses of dirt and desert weeds.

We get out there, and there's like, a city out there!!! I was so surprised. REAL street lights and signs, shopping, restaurants, nice houses were all over. Things definitely have changed in the last 15 years. Oh man, did I just say that? Ugh, that made me feel old.

Anyway, this store is way cute. It's big, clean, bright, and nicely laid out. The classroom has kind of a lecture hall feel to it though, not really the place where I would want to work on my own stuff during the day, but I could definitely see how it would be an advantage to teach or take a class there. I bought some ribbon (surprise!) and some more paper.

The next stop was the Recollections at Arrowhead. We stopped there because this weekend was the semi-annual clearance. While the new store in Chandler is new and therefore didn't really have anything to put on clearance, the Arrowhead store is older and therefore had a good selection. I bought more paper (ha ha ha) and some refill pages for my PSB. My friend, however went HOG WILD! She left with a giant bag of stuff, every single thing either 50% or 75% off, with a few at 90% off!

Since we were up on that side of town anyway, we decided to check out where Melissa (shout out to my blog homie) works and we cruised into Scrappin' Sisters. I really liked this store too. First of all, it smelled GOOD. The Arrowhead Recollections had been a little on the rank side, so we were very happy to walk into a nice, sweet smelling store. I like things that smell good.

They had a good layout as well. They were the smallest of the stores we visited today, but still a good size with a good selection. My friend got very excited about some new Disney trinkets she found, but there was nothing I could really justify spending more money on. My husband was probably going to be kinda irritated with me as it was. There were some things I would have LIKED though, hee hee!

All in all, not a bad day. I came home, had a nap, husband made dinner (McDonalds) and now I am making a chocolate cheesecake to take to a party tomorrow. Yay!

Sounds like a great day to me...certainly better than spending the day cooped up in a 5x5 cube with no window view in the freezing cold AC slaving away on a PC for no good darn reason.
Have fun with the ribbon!!
